Do Posters Work ?
This page will document a little experiment I am trying over the next Month. The experiment
will guage what effect a campaign of Pole posters can have. The Starting on June 18th, 2007, I will
be hanging posters for this site all over the city of Portland. I will document here, the effect on
traffic for this site.
Start --For the month of May 2007 the site had web stats of 2,139 distinct Hosts served. I take
this to mean 2,139 different people visited the site. May also had stats of 61,680 "requests" - (I don't
know what that means - Hits?) and 3,813 page requests.
July 1st Update
--For the moth of June, I had 3,208 distinct hosts served ( minus out Gigposters hits
the total was 2,673 distinct hosts). Pretty good, a 25% jump in distinct visitors.
Costs-- I will try to document the costs of the poster hanging campaign, so you can compare it to other
forms of advertising. So far - Printing -- $67- prints at Documart,
$18- paid to friend for cardstock laser prints.
Design ---- $35 The design costs for the posters were from $$ for site startup.
( However, the average cost for a design is about $35 in Ptld)
________
$110 so far,
I am hanging the posters myself, However for a promoter, they get their street team to hang in exchange for tickets, so ?
Here are some pics of The posters and where they were hung.

Poster by Art Chantry. Thanks ART!
June 18- I started in NW Portland
NW 21st and Everett. Notice my technique of High and Low placement. Posters will stay visible
longer this way because most hangers go for eye level and theirs get covered up quickly by the next ones on a popular pole like this.
